February Midweek Mingle & Learn Presentations

The Mercer Senior Center Friends invite community members to its February lineup of Midweek Mingle & Learn presentations, a free Wednesday morning series offering creativity, connection, and learning for adults of all ages.

All programs take place Wednesdays at 10:00 a.m. at the Northwoods Hub, 2518 Martha Lake Road, and are free and open to the public.

The February schedule includes:

February 4 – Layers of Love: A Valentine Cake Decorating Demonstration
Martha Kelly, Martha Kelly Catering Services
Celebrate Valentine’s season with a live cake decorating demonstration featuring a beautifully layered cake and practical decorating tips and techniques. The cake will be served later at Wednesday’s Senior Center lunch in celebration of February birthdays.

February 11 – Memory Café Grown-Up Show & Tell: Valentine’s Edition
Presented by the Aging and Disability Resource Center (ADRC)
This special Valentine themed Memory Cafe invites participants to bring a Valentine related object and share the story behind it during a relaxed Grown-Up Show and Tell. Items might include a card, a heart shaped object, something red, or something you love. The program continues with fun holiday themed memory games designed to encourage connection and conversation.

February 18 – Planning Today for Peace of Mind Tomorrow
Roxanne Lutgen, Attorney at Law, Lutgen Law Office
An informative session covering essential planning topics including wills, trusts, powers of attorney, and beneficiary designations. This presentation offers practical guidance to help individuals and families prepare for the future with confidence.

February 25 – Winter Warriors: How Northwoods Wildlife Adapt—and What’s Changing
Jenna Malinowski, Wildlife Biologist, Wisconsin DNR
Learn how Northwoods wildlife such as snowshoe hares, grouse, deer, snowy owls, and bears survive winter conditions and how a changing climate may be affecting these adaptations.

Guests are welcome to remain after each program for lunch provided by the Aging and Disability Resource Center of the North. Lunch reservations must be made at least 24 hours in advance by calling 715-561-2108, ext. 1.
