Mercer Senior Center Friends

In 2020, the Senior Center launched the Mercer Senior Center Friends. This group is the fundraising arm of our Senior Center that helps with expenses above and beyond the budget.

Our 2022 Membership Drive is Underway

Greetings to you and your family. We are happy to report that the Mercer Senior Center is carefully opening back up to serve and support our mission through companionship, friendship, and nutrition.

A good part of 2021 continued to challenge all of us, including Mercer’s senior citizens. We were able to serve pick-up and delivered meals for the entire year, and finally in September we began serving dine-in lunches. In the past year, the Center provided 4545 meals for seniors throughout the area. We couldn’t have done it without the hard work of our volunteers along with Tawnya Spriggs Kargus, Jim Amerson and Laurel Garbe from the Aging Unit.

The Senior Center Pancake Breakfast Fundraiser returned in August for Loon Day Weekend, and then again for Labor Day Weekend. Thank you to all of the volunteers and guests who supported the Center by working and attending.

Senior Center volunteers have been busy freshening up the Center inside with new paint; outside with brush clearing and striping the parking lot; and a newly designed website. In the coming year we have plans for installing an automatic accessible door operator system, replacing some of the kitchen equipment, and beginning to plan for new energy efficient windows. It’s ambitious, and we hope we can count on your support to make our plans become reality.

Last fall, the Senior Center launched the Mercer Senior Center Friends. Our organization is a separate 501(3)(c) non-profit group designed to be the fundraising arm of the Senior Center to help with expenses above and beyond the budget. Our first annual membership drive resulted in 90 members and we hope to continue to grow this number. We are so fortunate to have such generous residents, both part-time and full-time, that support our mission.

This year, as we embark upon our second annual membership drive, we ask you to join us as a 2022 member of the Mercer Senior Center Friends. We hope that you value the Center as an important resource for the community and will consider making a special year-end contribution.
